2012 IUFRO Division 5 Conference Took Place in Portugal

2012IUFRO D5 Conference took place on 8-13, July at Estoril Congress Center, Lisbon, Portugal. It has been 5 years since last meeting in Taipei. More than 500 participants of wood scientists, experts, technologists, entrepreneurs from all over the world gathered together discussing issues concerning FORESTS AND FOREST PRODUCTS of the present time and the future within keynote talks and technical sessions.

The Conference emphasized 14 topics on the following give themes, Forests for People, Forests and Climate Change, Bio-energy, Resources for the Future and Wood in Construction. Keynote speeches on each day were followed by six to seven technical sessions.

Wood Culture, one of 14 topics, was supported by International Wood Culture Society in Wood Culture Working Party (5.10.01), which had contributed 3 technical sessions. 15 speakers gave wonderful talks, and attracted the attention of many audiences. The objective of these sessions is to enhance a better understanding of wood and its use from the perspectives of economy, environment, and social value.
