The seventh World Wood Day was held in Stübing and Graz, Austria from March 19-24th with the theme “Change.”
The 2019 World Wood Day Symposium & the 2nd Forest Products Culture Research Group Colloquium, Change- from tradition to innovation, was also held from March 21st - 23rd.

WWDF and IWCS supported the Tetouan 2nd International Symposium on Sculpture as the 2019 World Wood Day regional event in Jordan, which was organized by the Adayday Association of Cultural, Artistic and Social Development from June 16th to 22nd.

IWCS and WWDF participated in the 2019 IUFRO World Congress: Forest Research and Cooperation for Sustainable Development, in Curitiba, Brazil, from September 29 to October 5, 2019. IWCS and WWDF organized two sessions titled “Wood and Forest Culture: Addressing a Sustainable Future" on October 1, delivered a presentation on "Wood Culture Programs: Paving the Way for Responsible Wood Usage and a Sustainable Future", and ran two booths to introduce and exhibit the activities of IWCS and World Wood Day events.

IWCS participated in the annual national event "Wood Collection 2018" to jointly promote the responsible wood use from a cultural perspective with the Legacy of Wood Culture Promotion Council (LWCPC) and film the grand expo at Tokyo Big Sight on January 30th-31st.

A new IUFRO Unit as one Research Group 5.15.00 Forest Products Culture and two Working Parties, 5.15.01 Wood culture and 5.15.02 Non-wood forest products culture has been urged and established by IWCS.

IWCS participated in the ASEAN+3 Conference, Interpreting Natural and Cultural Heritage Towards Quality Guiding and Satisfied Tourists, which was held in Siem Reap, from March 6th-8th 2018, and delivered two presentations on "World Wood Day: A Global Promotion for the Preservation of Wood Legacy and Cultural Heritage" and "Wood Culture for a Sustainable Development of Tourism".

The sixth World Wood Day was held in Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia from March 20th-25th with the theme “Life.” The 2018 World Wood Day Symposium & The 1st Forest Products Culture Research Group Colloquium, was also held from March 21st-23rd.

The 2018 World Wood Day in Laos was held in Vientiane from March 29th to April 1st with the theme “Life.”

The 2018 World Wood Day “Belt & Road” International Wood Culture Show took place at Yiwu International Expo Center in Zhejiang Province, China from April 27th - 30th with the theme “Wood for A Beautiful Life - Heart to Heart, Roots United.

IWCS and WWDF representatives participated in the fourth committee meeting of Legacy of Wood Culture Promotion Council as new members and the Press Conference on the joint event of 2020 World Wood Day at the House of Representatives of Japan on October 10th in Tokyo.

IWCS also conducted the WWD-IWCS joint documentary project on the Sustainability and Wood Legacy in Olympic and Paralympic Buildings in Tokyo, Gifu and Kyushu, as well as the filming project on the history and unique culture of the Gifu Precious Wood Market.

The fifth World Wood Day was held in Long Beach, California, USA, from March 21st - 26th with the theme “Roots”. The World Wood Day Symposium, Roots: Appreciating and Valuing Diversity from Interdisciplinary Approaches, was also held from March 22nd - 24th.

IWCS participated in the inauguration of the Alliance of Members of House of Representatives of Japan for the Promotion of Wood Legacy on April 5th, and IWCS Director, Mr. Mike Hou, delivered a presentation "Wood Culture for a Sustainable Future" during this initial meeting at the Diet Building No. 2, under the invitation of Japan Wood Industry Appeal Organization.

The 2017 IUFRO Division 5 Conference: Forest Sector Innovations for a Greener Future conference was held in Vancouver, BC, Canada from June 12th - 16th. IWCS organized two technical sessions titled “Wood and Forest Culture: A Path to a Greener Future”. IWCS Vice President and WWDF Chair, Dr. Howard N. Rosen also delivered a speech including the winner video of the 2016 wood and culture online video contest “Wood, a Culture for Life” at the opening ceremony on June 12th.

IWCS filmed the 38th Arakawa Traditional Arts and Handicraft Fair from July 7th - 9th in Arakawa, Tokyo, and launched a documentary project on the ukiyo-e print, Japanese traditional woodblock print dated in Edo period, Japan.

2017 World Wood Day regional event in Jordan was organized by the College of Arts and Design at the campus of the University of Jordan on November 15th, 2017 and co-organized by World Wood Day Foundation and supported by IWCS.

The Chinese 6th National Vocational & College Student Carpentry Competition and 2018 World Wood Day International Youth Adult Furniture Making Invitational China Trial took place at Guangxi International Conference and Exhibition Centre on November 17th-20th, 2017.

The 8th China-ASEAN International Wood Culture Forum of The Aesthetics of Wood in Life Exhibition and Workshop, co-organized by International Wood Culture Society, Guangxi University, and Nanning Wood Warehouse Co., Ltd, was successfully held at Guangxi International Convention & Exhibition Center on November 17th-21st, 2017.

“The Belt and Road - International Root Carving Exhibition,” co-organized mainly by China Arts and Crafts Association, International Wood Culture Society, and Kaihua People’s Government was held in Kaihua, Zhejiang Province from December 2nd-7th, 2017. Prof. GuangJie Zhao, the Vice President of IWCS, delivered a speech at the Opening Ceremony.

IWCS honorably becomes an Affiliate Member of International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS).

The fourth World Wood Day, themed “Nature and Culture”, was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from March 19th - 26th, and the World Wood Day Symposium, Nature and Culture: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Peaceful Coexistence and Sustainable Development, was held from March 21st - 23rd. Four pre-event projects were kicked off from February 27th and post-event visits to special schools and a senior care center were made on March 27th. Regional events were taken place in Latvia, Ghana, and China (Guangdong and Sichuan Provinces).

At the same time, regional events were taken place in Australia, Benin, Latvia, The Philippines, Switzerland, Syria and Istanbul, Turkey.
